Shopping Bonus

Ladies....You know how hard it is to find a pair of pants that fit! A pair that fit all of your personal requirements! Guess what happened to me! I wanted some capri pants for the summer and I lucked upon some pants and decided to try them on. I hate trying on pants, they either bag up in the back, squeeze in the middle, or drag in the leg length. These pants were on sale so I bought two pairs to go to San Diego.... I loved them! They wore well, fit well, looked as good as could be expected, and had pockets. What a comfortable pair of capri's..... Saturday as soon as I got home...... I ran back to the reputable store in the Provo Mall to see if they had any more. Guess What! They were 1/2 off and buy one pair and get a second pair for .88 . Okay so not everybody has the same body type as mine (thank goodness) and perhaps the store was just trying to dump inventory BUT I have 6 pairs of well fitting capri pants that will last until the style changes..... BONUS for me!
Okay folks if Julie can be excited about Green Cleaning Spray....I can be excited about finding a bargain! SMILE.....

San Diego

I left on Wednesday morning---really early had to catch a 6:40 a.m. flight to San Diego with some friends....It was warm Tuesday and Snowed Wednesday....It's been crazy weather in Utah, but we were looking forward to some time in the Sun. It was great! We got there about 9:00 a.m. , checked into the Marriott Courtyard, just a few blocks from the beach and convention center. We spent the first day, just getting our directions streight....and learning to ride the trains. We went to Old San Diego and did some sight seeing there. The second day we got up very early, rented a car and made good use of my GPS.... we drove up to Newport Beach and went to the temple.....they were so kind to us and let us tour the temple. It's really quite small, everyone who works in the Temple does lots of jobs.....It's the first Temple that I've seen that is terriacotta and built mission style......then we got finished and went to the San Diego Temple for a second session that day..... It's magnificant! A garden on the second floor that opens up to the heavens.......the celestial room is two floors.....the winding staircase is only for dreams....It's a beauty! We got home late that night and had to eat dinner at Fudruckers.... The last day was for sight seeing....we went to the San Diego cultural center and saw the exhibit...."A day in Pompeii".......Very Interesting! There were plaster casts of several of the men and women who died when Mt. Vesuvious erupted on August 24th 79A.D. It was heart wreching, you could see facial features as well as creases in their clothing -quite an advanced Roman civilization. I remember studying this event while in Elementary school. I was impressed then as well as now. We saw many of the artifacts as well. Then we hopped the trains and went to Seaport Village. I found a beautiful ring there and was really impressed by it......until they told me it was $799.00...... My friends did purchase some jewlery....but I couldn't bring myself to $799.00 plus taxes......
NO SALE......Not that impressed. We walked and walked and trained and trained......We had a seafood dinner on the ocean..... Yep I ate sea food...... Not very well.... But I did eat Sea Food....... We came home tired, but had a wonderful time....... Promised ourselves to do this again soon. Oh yeah, I did get sun....and a wee bit of a burn..... Enjoy the photos

Old Age, I decided, is a gift!

I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometimes despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And I'm always taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I'm learning not to agonize over these things for very long.

I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself and others. I've become my own friend.

I don't scold myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, for for buying that expensive chair and lamp that I ended up giving away. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon and I'm sorry that they missed the great freedom that comes with aging.

Whose business is it if I choose to read until late in the evening, and I'm late to work the next morning by 10 or 15 minutes..... (I make it up to my employer in other ways). I've been known to dance with myself in my own livingroom to wonderful tunes of the 60's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a past loss......I will.

I will laugh at my own jokes, I will sing in the shower, and take long bath's in expensive bath salts, and buy only the foods I like.

I will walk about in clothes that I feel comfortable in, whether they're the latest style or not. I will choose to wear flats with bussiness or dress clothes....despite the pitying glances from the younger set..... They, too, will get old.

Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when your daughter goes thru a divorce, and then you do too. When your son doesn't get the job he really wants, when your daughter goes past her due date, when another son is away from his family longer than he wants to be, and of course when my children move so far away. But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn golden grey, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into the mighty grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn grey. I am blessed to have survived Cancer and the treatment that followed. I am blessed to have Children that have forgiven me for being their Mother and realize that I really tried and have always loved them. I've made mistakes, but through it all.....I was always on their side.

As I get older, it's easier to be positive. I care less about what other people think. I question myself less. I've earned the right to be wrong. And there are things that matter and other things that really don't matter at all.

This year I will be 65 on my birthday. I will sign up for Medicare and it will be okay. I like being 64 and eight months! It has set me FREE. I like the person I've become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worry about what will be. I know that I am loved, I know my place in the universe, and I'm aware of getting even older. Life is good, and I appreciate all that I've been given!
